Study and Work Space
At Nesmith Library, we have several options for you to study or work. We do have limited space, and to ensure everyone feels welcome and can use the library, please follow these guidelines.
We ask that all patrons keep disruptions to a minimum whenever possible. For example, phone or video calls may not be on speaker in common spaces of the library.
Please note: Nesmith Library is a community space. You may hear conversation, programs, or other activity during your visit. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to explore our study areas to find the best spot for your needs!
Study Rooms & Study Pods
Study Rooms: We have 2 study rooms that are available on a first come, first served basis*. You are allowed to use the room for 2 hours, with the option to extend your time if no one is waiting.
Study Pods: There are 4 study pods located throughout the library providing a dedicated space for an individual or two to study. These can also be used for up to two hours at a time, with the option to extend if no one is waiting.
If there is someone waiting to use a room or pod, we may ask you to relocate or move to our open tables or study carrels.
Rules
- You must check in at the front desk before using a study room or study pod.
- No food or drink is allowed in the History Room.
- Our study rooms are not sound proof and we ask you keep your volume down and close the door if you are having a meeting or using the phone.
- After 1:30 PM, the study pod in the teen area is reserved for patrons in grades 7-12.
- *Library staff having meetings and Town of Windham departments are allowed to book the room ahead of time, and we will let people using the rooms know when they check in if there is a meeting scheduled.
Study Carrels & Tables
Carrels: For those seeking to work solo, we offer 2 study carrels designed for focused, individual work.
Tables: Five spacious tables are available for studying, reading, or collaborative work.
Neither the carrels nor tables require check-in at the front desk, but we do ask that you keep phone calls and noise to a minimum.
Thank you for helping us maintain a welcoming space for everyone!
