We've had several questions lately about what the Hold Status terms mean once you've placed an item on hold in our catalog, and thought we would share some context about how our system processes your request. Please ask us with any questions you may have!
PENDING: Congratulations! Your hold request has been placed, and an item that matches your request is available now at one or more GMILCS libraries.
SHIPPED: Library staff have retrieved your item from the shelf, and put the item in a bin to be delivered to the pick up location that you requested.
HELD: Your item is ready for you at the pick up location! You can check out your item during that library's open hours, by presenting your library card.
ACTIVE: Your hold has been placed, and when an item becomes available, it will be pulled for you and shipped to your pick up location. (Usually for items which are currently checked out but can fill your request when returned.)
INACTIVE: A hold placed with a future activation date, which will become Active or Pending when the activation date is reached. (You can place future holds so that an item will be located for you after you return from vacation, for example!)
CANCELLED: The user or library staff cancelled the hold, or the item was delivered to your pick up location, but was not picked up. (For example, items are Held at Nesmith Library for 5 days before being returned to their home library.)
