On Wednesday, June 21 at 10:30am, the Nesmith Library will host the Mariposa Museum & World Culture Center as they present “Recycled Toys and Art from Around the World!”for home school families. Learn how children and adults from around the world build toys, games, and art from recycled materials. This fun and educational presentation introduces toys such as the galimoto, a push toy made by children in Africa. It is constructed from wires, cornstalks, scraps of metal, or whatever is on hand. We will also look at works of art such as a colorful cathedral from Poland made from candy wrappers! Through a hands-on learning project, participants will make a galimoto of their own using pipe leaners and other materials. “Recycled Toys and Art from Around the World” will illustrate to participants the importance of recycling in building a better world!
Registration is required. Please stop by the check-out desk or call the library at 432-7154.
