Did you know...
If you have ever used one of the quiet study rooms at the Nesmith Library, you may have noticed several finely crafted wood sculptures on display.
Have you wondered about the history of these pieces of art?
They were created by Windham’s own Mary Long. Mary worked as a professional artist but she was best known by the children of Windham. Mary hosted the art table at the Friends of the Library Art Festival for many years and she worked with the children at Golden Brook School. She was voted Windham Artist Emeritus after her death at age 80 in 1997.
Come in and view Mary’s sculptures of deer, fox and other animals. Just one more way the Nesmith Library is branching out into the community.
