2009 Local Scholarships   

 

 

Alexander Eastman Foundation

The Alexander Eastman Foundation has established a scholarship program for students pursuing further education in a health care field. The program is designed to provide scholarship grants from $200 to $2,500 to health care workers who seek to upgrade their professional skills.

ELIGIBILITY :  Applicants to the program must meet the following eligibility requirements:
* be currently employed as nurses, nurses aides, home health care providers or allied health workers (volunteer or paid) in health care facilities in the greater Derry area including Derry, Londonderry, Windham, Chester, Hampstead or Sandown.
* be entering or enrolled in full-time, part-time or short-term program of study in health fields including, but not limited to: medicine, dentistry, nursing, medical laboratory, radiology, pharmacology, rehabilitation therapy, nutrition, health care administration, or home health care.
* be an independent student (i.e, over age 24 or have others dependent on you).

Friends of the Library of Windham (FLOW) Scholarship

         Friends of the Library of Windham Scholarship and Mary Long Scholarship, each $2000 - Applications   are available at the Nesmith Library.  Scholarship winners will be announced at the 2009 Strawberry Festival and Book Fair on June 6th.    Completed applications may be dropped off at the Nesmith Library until Monday, May 4th, 2009.              

 

 

Windham Democratic Town Committee and  the Salem Democratic Town Committee

$1000 to a Salem or Windham senior who will be attending a post-secondary institution in the fall.  Applications available from Chris Rossetti.

 

Windham Garden Club

The Windham Garden Club will award two $2000 scholarships.  Applications are available at the Nesmith Library.  Letters of Application must be postmarked by March 31, 2009.

 

 

Windham Women's Club Academic Scholarship -

Two $1500 scholarships will be awarded.  Applicants must be residents of Windham and must be graduating high school seniors. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic and academic achievement and demonstrated financial need.  Applications are available at the Nesmith Library.

Applications must be received by April 15, 2009.
