The "New" Nesmith Library celebrated its Thirteenth Anniversary in August, 2010!

Photos from  the Tenth Anniversary Celebration

The new Nesmith Library facility opened August 28, 1997. It was designed by the architectural firm of Dennis Mires, The Architects, P.A., of Manchester, New Hampshire, which worked with the Nesmith Library Building Committee to create a workable flexible design for the new library.

The building was the first facility to be built on Windham's new town center, which overlooks the old town common. Parking accommodates 51 cars, with access for handicapped patrons.

The one-floor, 12,000 square foot interior is flexible and functional, designed to serve the current town needs and anticipated changes in technology and library services. A multipurpose activity/meeting room is used frequently by numerous groups as well as for library programming. It can be secured after library hours which lends to its popularity for community events.

Two quiet study rooms are popular for study, small meetings and tutoring, and comfortable reading areas overlook both the future new town green and the sunny south side of the building. Several study tables are wired for the convenience of patrons using laptop computers.

The pleasant, functional, spacious facility has encouraged an expected and welcome increase in usage. The staff looks forward to the continued increase in numbers of Windham citizens using the Nesmith Library services.
