Anyone owning property or living in the Town of Windham is eligible for a library card without charge. Just stop by, fill out a simple registration card, and we will make a card for you while you wait (or browse)!
Your Library Card will not expire; every three years we will ask if your address and telephone number have changed, and will update our records if necessary.
A Non-Resident Card is available for $75.00 per year.
Books, magazines, music CDs, VHS videos and DVDs, books-on-tape and books on CDs (audio books) may be checked out for two weeks. You may renew these items in person or by telephone up to three times if no one has reserved them. Enjoy over 180 magazines and 18 newspapers in the library's comfortable reading areas. Please note that the most recent issue of each magazine does not circulate until the next issue arrives. This is a common library practice and the library staff appreciates your cooperation.
Reference materials do not circulate, but must be used within the Library.
The Library is always more interested in having items returned than charging fines. Overdue notices are sent periodically to encourage return and to reduce patrons' fines.
A fine of 5 cents per day per item is charged on all overdue materials except museum passes and interlibrary loans which have a $1 per day fine.
Replacement costs plus a $3.50 processing fee will be charged for lost or damaged items.
