Registration Procedure for Nesmith Library Story Hour Classes

    In an effort to make story hour registration easier for our patrons, Nesmith Library Youth Services surveyed story hour parents.  The results of the surveys indicate that the majority of parents prefer day registration (instead of evening), and in-person registration (instead of a lottery system or phone registration).  To accommodate your needs, the following registration system is in place. 

  Registration for the next Story Hour Classes will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2012.  Numbers will be handed out when the library opens at 9:00am. Please note the change in day for this registration.  No phone registrations will be taken until after the in-house library registration is completed, and then only if there are any remaining spots available.

 Story Hour Classes are a pre-registered program for children 3 to 6 years of age who can independently participate in an hour of stories, songs, and a simple coloring project.  Twelve children are registered per class, and a child can only be registered for one time slot per session. 

 In order to be enrolled in this program, children must be three years of age by the first of the month in which registration takes place.  For session one, a child must be three years of age by January 1, 2012.  Parents and/or guardians do not stay in Story Hour with the children, but are required to remain in the library during that time. 

A parent must also be a Nesmith Library cardholder in order for a child to be registered, and each parent or family representative may only register the children from one family.  

 Story Hour Classes will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 10:00-11:00am, and on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 1:00-2:00pm.  Story Hour Classes run for 6 weeks, with no story hours being held on holidays, snow days, or school vacations.  This  session of Story Hours begins the week of January ^30th with the last Story Hour Class being held the week of March 12, 2012.  There will be no Story Hour Classes held the week of February 27 to March 2 due to school vacation.

 The following dates have been scheduled for Story Hour Class registration for 2011-2012 calendar school year.  Numbers will be handed out immediately when the library opens at 9:00am.

2011-2012 STORY HOUR CLASS REGISTRATION DATES:

 Session 1:  Tuesday, September 20^th

Session 2:  Wednesday, November 16^th

Session 3:  Tuesday, January 24^th

Session 4:  Wednesday, March 28^th

STORY HOUR CLASS DAYS AND TIMES:

Tuesday            10-11am

Tuesday            1–2pm

Wednesday        10–11am

Wednesday        1–2pm

Thursday          10–11am
