and Toddler Story Times

Story Hour Classes

Registration Procedure for Nesmith Library Story Hour Classes Story Time

Registration for the next Story Hour session will be held beginning Tuesday,  September 23rd.

Numbers for obtaining a spot in Story Hour are handed out when the library opens at 9:00am.  No phone registrations will be taken until after the

in-house library registration is completed, and then only if there are openings available.

Story Hour is a pre-registered program for children 3 to 6 years of age who can independently participate in an hour of stories, songs, and a coloring activity.

Twelve children are registered per class, and a child can only be registered for one time slot per session.

A child has to be three years of age to participate in the upcoming session.  Parents and/or guardians do not stay in Story Hour with the children, but are required to remain in the library during that time.  Story Hour registration is only open to Nesmith Library cardholders and each parent or family representative may only register the children from one family.

Story Hour sessions will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 10:00-11:00am, and on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 1:00-2:00pm.

In the event of inclement weather, morning story hour will be cancelled when Windham schools have a delayed opening.  If Windham schools are closed, BOTH the morning and afternoon sessions will be cancelled.

No story hours are held on holidays, snow days, or school vacations.

The following dates have been scheduled for Story Hour registration for the 2014-2015 school year.

Toddler Story Time Classes

 No pre-registration necessary!

Toddler story time is for ages 18 months to 36 months with a caregiver.  Sessions will be held during the school year on Monday mornings at 9:30 and 10:30.

September 8th, September 15th, September 29th

October 6th, October 20th, October 27th

November 3rd, and November 10th

*Please note that Toddler Time will not be held on September 22nd or October 13th.*

Toddler story time provides an opportunity for you and your child to explore the library, enjoy books together, and visit with other families. Sharing books with your child encourages healthy language development, helps you bond with your child, and stimulates their rapidly growing minds.  It also helps to build a strong foundation for later learning. This program features books, songs, and movement activities to help develop your child's language skills and socialization.

Please note that if there is a weather related school delay or cancellation, Toddler Story Time Classes will be cancelled.

Please note: Toddler Story Time Classes are open only to cardholders of the Nesmith Library.

Toddler Time lasts about 20-25 minutes  with 30 minutes following the session for parent/child social interaction.

Parents are encouraged to participate but asked to limit personal conversations until the 30 minute social period. The more you engage in Toddler Time with your child, the more attentive he/she will be.

Siblings are welcome to attend the toddler session; however, older siblings cannot be left unattended in the library while a parent is in Toddler Time.

On occasion, Toddler Time is subject to cancellation, but parents will still be able to participate in an hour of social interaction with each other in the Multi-Purpose Room.

For more information, please call  Karen Frey or Jane McCue at 432-7154.  Thank you.
