Registration Procedure for Nesmith Library Story Hour Classes Story Time

Registration for the next Story Hour session will be held on

Tuesday, March 5, 2013.

Numbers for obtaining a spot in Story Hour are handed out when the library opens at 9:00am.  No phone registrations will be taken until after the

in-house library registration is completed, and then only if there are openings available.

Story Hour is a pre-registered program for children 3 to 6 years of age who can independently participate in an hour of stories, songs, and a coloring activity.   Twelve children are registered per class, and a child can only be registered for one time slot per session.

In order to be enrolled, children must be three years of age by the first of the month in which registration takes place.  For example, a child has to be three years of age by March 1, 2013 to participate in the upcoming session.  Parents and/or guardians do not stay in Story Hour with the children, but are required to remain in the library during that time.  Story Hour registration is only open to Nesmith Library cardholders and each parent or family representative may only register the children from one family.

Story Hour sessions will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 10:00-11:00am, and on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 1:00-2:00pm.   The current session begins the week of March 26th with the last class being held the week of May 7thth.   No story hours are held on holidays, snow days, or school vacations.

Toddler Story Time Classes

 No pre-registration necessary!

Toddler story time is for ages 18 months to 36 months with a caregiver.  Sessions will be held during the school year on Monday mornings at 9:30 and 10:30.

June 10th, June 17th, June 24th,

July 1st, July 8th*, July 15th, July 22nd, July 29th,

and August 5th

*Please note that on July 8th, Toddler Time will be held at the Town Beach in conjunction with the Recreation Department at 10:30am. You will need a beach pass (free for Windham residents). In case of rain, it will be held at the library.

Toddler story time provides an opportunity for you and your child to explore the library, enjoy books together, and visit with other families. Sharing books with your child encourages healthy language development, helps you bond with your child, and stimulates their rapidly growing minds.  It also helps to build a strong foundation for later learning.

Please note that if there is a weather related school delay or cancellation, Toddler Story Time Classes will be cancelled.

Please note: Toddler Story Time Classes are open only to cardholders of the Nesmith Library.

Toddler Time lasts about 20-25 minutes  with 30 minutes following the session for parent/child social interaction.

Parents are encouraged to participate but asked to limit personal conversations until the 30 minute social period. The more you engage in Toddler Time with your child, the more attentive he/she will be.

For more information, please call  Karen Frey or Jane McCue at 432-7154.  Thank you.
