Nesmith Library Board Trustee Minutes

February 8, 2005


Present:  Shirley Beaulieu, Chair, Joan Griffin, Vice-Chair, Sharon Scannell, Treasurer, Chris Monterio, Assistant Treasurer, Mary Lee Underhill, Recording Secretary, Pat Skinner, Correspondence Secretary, Lorraine Bain, Member, Carl Heidenblad, Director, Assistant Directors Lois Freeston and Diane Mayr. 


Shirley called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm.


Guest:  Mindy Davis, Chair of the Strawberry Festival, gave an update on F.L.O.W.’s plans and projects.  Preparations have begun for the Festival which will be held on Saturday, June 4.  There will be a membership social on February 15th from 6:30 to 8 pm.



The minutes of the January 11th meeting were accepted with the insertion of “Assistant Treasurer” after Chris Monterio’s name.


Correspondence:  Shirley read a letter of introduction from Paul Keller who is a candidate for the Board of Trustees three-year position.



Director:  Carl submitted his written report and said:

Statistics for January showed that there were 8,858 registered patrons, 6,679 people visited the library, 328 used the Internet, 12,420 items circulated, and volunteers contributed 112 hours.


Finance:  The financial report was not complete at the time of the meeting due to year-end auditing.



Garden Club Grant.  Sharon suggested that the Board submit a proposal for a grant to improve the landscaping in front of the Library.  Joan and Carl will work with her on the proposal.



MOTION: was made by Mary Lee and seconded

            That the Board enters a Non-public session in accordance with RSA 91-A:3.

Shirley polled the Board: all were in favor.

            That the Board exits the Non-public session.

Master Plan Review, Wednesday, February 9 at 7 pm at the Town Hall

School Deliberative Session, Friday, February 11 at 7 pm, Golden Brook School

Town Deliberative Session, Saturday, February 12 at 9 am, Golden Brook School

F.L.O.W. Social, Tuesday, February 15, 6:30 to 8 pm at the Library

The Next Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 15, at 7 pm.

Programs for Adults:

Wednesday, February 16 Book Discussion “The Professor and the Madman” at 7:30 pm

Tuesday, February 22 Presentation on “Climate Change” by Marine Docents, 7 pm

Friday, February 25 Potluck Lunch “A Touch of Red” at noon
