FRIENDS KICK-OFF THE 2007 STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL AND BOOK FAIR

Spring has finally arrived and the Friends of the Library of Windham (F.L.O.W.) are ready to kick off planning for the 2007 Strawberry Festival and Book Fair to be held on Saturday, June 2nd!

The Strawberry Festival and Book Fair is the town’s largest event and is the annual fundraiser for F.L.O.W.  Funds raised at the festival pay for library programming, equipment like the outdoor book drop box, the large number of museum passes, authors that visit the library, two $2,000.00 scholarships awarded (by F.L.O.W) to Windham High School seniors, support for Windham’s First Teachers’ Program, as well as other needs the library has above its annual budget.

The festival needs over 200 volunteers to help with everything from baking biscuits to slicing strawberries for our homemade strawberry shortcakes.  The F.L.O.W. Board consists of only 15 members, so without the community’s help, the festival can’t take place.

The Friends are looking for anyone interested in volunteering a few hours, or more, of their time.  Volunteering is a great way to get involved, to meet some of your Windham neighbors, and to help raise money to support the Nesmith Library.  This year, there are many volunteer opportunities available.  The Friends are excited to get started and would appreciate your help.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information, please contact Annie Murphy at 432-4481.

We look forward to hearing from you!
